Systemic Treatment Funding Model

We have implemented a new systemic treatment funding model, effective April 1, 2014, in alignment with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care’s direction for Health System Funding Reform.

The model is based on evidence-informed practice and has been developed in consultation with stakeholders including clinical experts and administrative leaders from across the province.

The following definition and criteria document outlines the definition of evidence-informed practice and criteria for evaluating regimens and evidence.

The systemic treatment funding model is specific to systemic treatment delivered in the outpatient setting.

Funded Evidence-Based Regimens

As of April 1, 2014, facilities will be funded for the delivery of these evidence-informed chemotherapy regimens only.

The evidence informed regimens and the clinical trials list are updated quarterly (March, June, September, and December) or intermittently as required e.g. for funding updates. Other documents are updated as needed.

Updates to the ST-QBP webpage will be tracked in the Updates Tracker document, below, which is updated on a monthly basis. Please review the updated information to stay informed of changes to the ST-QBP. The Updates Tracker lists modifications to existing regimens, updates to funding status, funding decisions for regimen requests and any changes to individual disease site webpage documents.

To review the status (Approved, Not Approved, Pending) of submitted requests during the current and previous years, please refer to ST-QBP Regimen Request Status.
