Cancer Risk Factors in Ontario: Tobacco
Cancer Risks in Ontario - Tobacco

Cancer Risk Factors in Ontario: Tobacco is the second report in the Cancer Risk Factors in Ontario series. It extends the work of the evidence summary report, which summarized the epidemiologic evidence for a wide range of cancer risk factors, by providing detailed information on the prevalence and distribution of tobacco smoking, smoking cessation, and second-hand smoke exposure in Ontario. This information will inform public health and health professionals, as well as policy-makers involved in tobacco and cancer control efforts.

This report uses a cancer perspective to examine tobacco use in Ontario and includes:

  • Estimates of the cancer burden in the province related to tobacco-smoking
  • Examinations of socio-demographic and geographic variations in tobacco smoking, smoking cessation and exposure to second-hand smoke
  • A section on tobacco use and exposure among off-reserve Aboriginal Peoples in Ontario
