Cancer Imaging Guidance

The cancer imaging recommendations in this section are extracted from larger guidance documents and specialist society guidelines to help referring physicians and radiologists more easily find up-to-date evidence-based cancer imaging guidelines and make informed decisions about the most appropriate care.

Endorsement process ensures quality and relevance

An endorsement from the Cancer Imaging Program ensures we include only relevant, current and high-quality evidence-based guidance. We aim to provide a complete and useful source of existing guidance for cancer imaging in Ontario.

Disease pathway maps provide framework

The decision points used for guidance have been selected via CCO’s Disease Pathway Maps, which provide information about what type of care should be offered to Ontario cancer patients. The pathways are intended to set care expectations for cancer patients in Ontario, based on best scientific evidence and consensus clinical opinion.
